About Laser Therapy

The laser has been a brilliant addition to my clinic. It helps with so many ‘other’ conditions not relevant for McTimoney.

The list is fairly extensive. Soft tissue injuries, sports injuries,  osteoarthritic pain, post-operative healing, wounds and lots more. The treatment is totally painless and usually works quickly.

Do you have any Questions?

Give me a call or send me an email if you are unsure about anything.

What is Omega Laser Therapy and how does it work?

Omega Laser Therapy uses “cold” semiconductor lasers or LEDs to trigger a biological response called photobiomodulation. Think of it like photosynthesis for your cells; the light energy is absorbed by the mitochondria, increasing the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which accelerates cellular repair and reduces inflammation.

Does the treatment hurt?

Not at all. Unlike surgical or high-power industrial lasers, Omega equipment is non-thermal. Patients typically feel nothing during the procedure, though some report a slight, pleasant tingling or a soothing warmth in the treated area due to increased blood flow.

Pain Management & Recovery

How does it help with joint pain?

The therapy works on three levels for joints:

  • Inflammation Reduction: It decreases the concentration of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
  • Pain Blockage: It can increase the body’s production of natural endorphins and suppress pain signals in the nerves.
  • Tissue Repair: It encourages the regeneration of cartilage and synovial fluid components.

Can it treat acute muscle injuries?

Yes. For strains, sprains, or “pulled” muscles, the laser speeds up the inflammatory phase of healing. By increasing local microcirculation, it helps the body flush out metabolic waste and bring in oxygenated blood to repair muscle fibers faster.
