McTimoney Treatment for Animals
McTimoney for animals is a gentle, non-invasive, holistic approach that works to realign and balance the animal’s musculoskeletal system. This restores correct alignment of the animal’s spine and pelvis, thus restoring health and correct movement, soundness and performance. The animal may require several treatments, depending on the nature of the problem. Often one or two seem to be of benefit. Most animals accept (and seem to enjoy) the treatment.
Details of the animal’s age, injury history, exercise pattern and general lifestyle will be discussed. I will ask for the horse or dog to be walked up to assess locomotion and look for obvious misalignments. Then, the spine and pelvis along with other relevant joints are assessed for asymmetry. Problems are located and treated using very fast and precise adjustments.
Aftercare usually involves rest and/or limited exercise for a few days. If a follow-up treatment is needed, I will tell you and this will be arranged.

Does McTimoney work as well on animals as on people?
In a nutshell – yes! In the case of riders, it can sometimes be the person who is the problem – not the horse!! It makes sense to use a practitioner who does both. I have undertaken 6 years of training in order to treat both your animal, and you. Animals show a variety of behavioural or temperamental changes when they are in discomfort – after all, they have no other ways of telling us! Most owners recognise when their animal is not right or showing signs or distress, but please contact me for advice.
Veterinary permission
Please note that all animals can only be treated with McTimoney with veterinary approval so please contact your vet before embarking on treatment – this is currently the law in the UK. Happily, most vets are aware of the gentle nature and benefits of McTimoney for animals and in the vast majority of cases will readily consent.

I will talk to you about the problem and will advise as to whether or not I think it will be of benefit in your animal’s particular case. In the occasional case where I think manipulation is not warranted – I will endeavour to suggest another appropriate course of action.
